Reflective Optical Beam Detectors
Optical beam detectors be provide the ideal solutions for fast and accurate heat and smoke detection. Optical beam detectors consist of three main devices; a transmitter / receiver, a reflector and a control unit.
With a reflective system, the beam transmitter and the receiver are within the same unit. With an infrared light beam, the transmitter sends a beam which is reflected back to the receiver by a reflector installed directly opposite the transmitter. The receiver is connected to a control unit which sends an alert if smoke is detected.
The way that this system is setup and installed, can mean that there is less wiring and installation costs that are needed.
Projected Optical Beam Detectors
With a projected optical beam detector, the transmitter and the receiver are installed at each end of an area. The receiver is connected to the control unit. The control unit will be installed in a location that is accessible from the ground.
Projected optical beam detectors are less likely to be affected by stray reflections, as beam is reflected to the receiver. Due to the nature of these system, the detectors can be used within smaller gaps and areas.
The transmitters and receivers, like the reflective system, are generally compact and can be aesthetically tailored so that they better blend into their environment.
